Apple iPhone is the most popular gift on 2016 Christmas holiday wish lists, according to survey
Apple’s brand continues to dominate mindshare for the festive season, according to a survey by Piper Jaffray. The company holds the top two spots for most wanted gift this holiday season with both iPhone and MacBook far ahead of any other product category.
The iPhone was the clear leader, with 7.2 percent of people surveyed wanting a new iPhone, up from 5.2 percent in 2015. MacBook took second place on the chart (embedded after the jump), at 2.1% popularity …

Panic discontinuing Status Board stats app following final iOS 10 support update
Over three years ago, Panic introduced an app that quickly gained popularity, especially from pro users. Called Status Board, the iOS app displayed a host of information, all in a modular, easy to follow interface. Today, however, Panic announced that it is discontinuing development of Status Board.

Apple Pay’s fate in Australia remains unclear as banks are denied request to negotiate with Apple
Apple Pay’s rollout in Australia has been hindered since the start as local banks have pleaded to have access to the NFC hardware in the iPhone so existing mobile payment services can be used alongside Apple Pay.
Now, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has rejected a proposal from a handful of big Australian banks that would have allowed them to negotiate with Apple, according to the Australian site ABC News…

AT&T’s DirecTV Now streaming TV service officially unveiled: launching November 30 from $35/month
AT&T has officially unveiled details about its upcoming streaming TV service called DirecTV Now. The company first announced the subscription video service back in March, promising “on-demand and live programming from many networks, plus premium add-on options” over the Internet similar to Sling TV and PlayStation Vue. Details on pricing and availability have been limited until now.
