If there’s anything more annoying than waiting impatiently for your new MacBook Pro to arrive, it’s finding that it isn’t working properly when you receive it. This is the experience being reported by a number of early recipients of the latest machines.

Apple’s publication of a $199/$299 design book raised quite a few eyebrows, some questioning the price, others considering it self-indulgent (especially given all the promo activity), yet others wondering whether this might be Jony Ive’s swansong.

We got a hands-on look at the book in a recent video, and I had my own look in the Regent Street Apple Store. My own view is that it’s beautifully produced, but much as I like it, I’m not going to lay out that kind of cash on a coffee-table book. I’m just not in this market.

However, if you love the idea of the book but not the price, there is an incredibly nice $67.50 alternative …

If you’re planning on buying an Apple product for someone as a gift – or want to have an extended test-drive yourself before deciding whether or not to keep something – you can safely do so knowing that Apple’s extended Holiday Return Policy is now in effect.

Instead of the usual 14-day window to return unwanted items, you can now return them for a full refund anytime up to 8th January.

Items purchased at the Apple Online Store that are received between November 10, 2016 and December 25, 2016, may be returned through January 8, 2017. Please note that all other terms and conditions provided in the Apple Online Store Sales and Refunds Policy are still applicable with respect to such items purchased. All purchases made after December 25, 2016 are subject to the Standard Return Policy.
