More leaked macOS assets show Touch ID on new MacBook Pros w/ unlocking functionality
While a leak of Apple’s new MacBook Pro earlier today offered a first look at the much rumored OLED touch screen built into the device’s keyboard alongside Touch ID, we’ve found yet more hints that seem to show Touch ID can also be used for unlocking functionality.

Apple announces Q4 2016 revenue of $46.9b: 45.5m iPhones, 9.2m iPads, 4.8m Macs
Apple today has officially reported its Q4 2016 earnings results with $46.9 billion in revenue and $9 billion in profit from the July to September quarter. In its earnings press release, Apple says the following:
Apple® today announced financial results for its fiscal 2016 fourth quarter ended September 24, 2016. The Company posted quarterly revenue of $46.9 billion and quarterly net income of $9 billion, or $1.67 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $51.5 billion and net income of $11.1 billion, or $1.96 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 38 percent compared to 39.9 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 62 percent of the quarter’s revenue.

Report: Apple continues hiring from BlackBerry’s QNX team for R&D office developing car software
Following an earlier report that Apple hired former BlackBerry employee and founder of the company’s QNX operating system, a new Bloomberg story today details Apple’s expansion of an R&D facility in Canada housing dozens of engineers that appear to be working on car related software.
The report points to many hires coming from BlackBerry’s QNX teams, which it notes is currently used as an underlying operating system in over 60 million cars. The team is located in Kanata, Ontario, Canada, the hometown of Blackberry’s QNX where Apple reportedly leased R&D office space back in January:

Google’s new ‘Jamboard’ real-time collaboration tool will have companion/standalone iOS apps
At $6000, the Google Jamboard is clearly aimed at enterprise customers who want a unified real-time collaboration solution. However, the more interesting collaboration software that runs on the 55-inch 4K touchscreen will also be available through companion iOS phone and tablet apps.
