Sporadic reports of poor phone call quality on iPhone 7, may be linked to Verizon
A small number of iPhone 7/7 Plus owners are reporting poor sound quality during phone calls. The issue doesn’t appear to be widespread, but there have seemingly been enough reports for Apple to update a generic support document for the sound issues.

Hacker claims to have jailbroken iPhone 7 in just 24 hours, but don’t expect it to be released
The iPhone 7 hit the market just a week ago, but hackers have already started work on attempting to jailbreak the device. As noted by Motherboard, one teenage hacker has already had success in jailbreaking the iPhone 7 running iOS 10. In fact, the 19-year-old developer, Luca Todesco, claims to have successfully done so in just 24 hours…

Report: Beats not updating Studio Wireless headphones this year due to lack of battery improvements
Alongside the iPhone 7 earlier this month, Apple introduced a new lineup of Beats products, including the Solo3, Powerbeats 3, Beats X, and Beats Ep. Noticeably missing from the refresh, though, were the Beats Studio Wireless. Coming in near the top of the Beats lineup, the Studio Wireless offer an over-ear design and improved noise-canceling compared to the company’s other offerings.
If you were holding out for a refresh of the Beats Studio Wireless, perhaps for the holiday season, you’re going to be waiting for a while, according to a new report from CNET.

ABC News now works with Apple TV’s Live tune-in feature using Siri
Apple TV gained a new feature earlier this year called Live tune-in that lets you tell Siri what channel you want to watch and jump right in to the current stream. The feature is somewhat difficult to discover, but Apple maintains a list of “live channels” that work with Live tune-in on the fourth-gen Apple TV.

Apple bolsters continuing machine learning efforts with Tuplejump acquisition
Apple is continuing to add to its team of machine learning experts in Cupertino. TechCrunch reports that Apple has acquired Tuplejump, which describes itself as a service that “presents all your data in a familiar format” on their now-removed website. An Apple spokesperson gave TC the usual non-denial confirmation regarding the acquisition:

Apple releases first iOS 10.1 public beta with Portrait mode blur effect for iPhone 7 Plus, first macOS 10.12.1 public beta
Coming just a day after Apple released the iOS 10.1 developer beta 1 with the new depth of field effect, the iOS 10.1 public beta is also now available. Users installing the public beta on the iPhone 7 Plus will see the new beta Portrait mode under their camera settings. Users on the macOS Sierra public beta will also be seeing the first macOS 10.12.1 public beta update rolling out too.

Comment: Activity Sharing in iOS 10 and watchOS 3 is Apple ‘social’ done right
Apple is known to be notoriously bad at social — look no further than Ping, a social feature embedded in iTunes that Tim Cook killed because no one used it. That’s fine for the most part because Apple makes the platform (iOS) where the best social network apps (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.) exist and people continue buying iPhones.
Apple isn’t completely socially awkward either. Music lets you tweet and post playlists, Photos lets you share Photo Streams with contacts and on the web, and iOS share sheets facilitate the majority of my social sharing. It’s Apple’s new Activity Sharing feature that I’ve been enjoying the most since iOS 10 and watchOS 3 were introduced.
Activity Sharing lets you automatically share fitness data captured from the Apple Watch with other Apple Watch wearers. Adding a social aspect to activity tracking is especially motivational for staying active and shows Apple doing social right (even if Activity Sharing has opportunities to improve).
