Use this macOS Safari extension to easily watch videos in PIP from YouTube, Netflix and more
macOS Sierra now supports video picture-in-picture just like the iPad for Safari and iTunes. You can pop out a video from the web into a floating overlay that stays on top of other windows and snaps to corners or anywhere on your display when you hold Option.
It’s a really nice feature when it’s available, but a lot of websites do not yet expose a PIP button. Luckily, Developer Arno Appenzeller has released a free Safari extension that enables PIP for Safari, Netflix and more video services. Here’s how to use it:

The Apple Watch retains its dominance as overall smartwatch sales growth slows
Kantar reports that Apple has retained its dominance of the smartwatch sector, even as overall growth has started to slow. The data is based on sales as of July of this year, so pre-dating the launch of the Apple Watch Series 2.

Opinion: macOS Sierra’s new storage-management tools are a bit of a mess
One of the new features of macOS Sierra is that it can automatically ‘manage storage’ on your Mac. What this means is, if you’re getting low on SSD space, macOS can automatically upload older and larger files to iCloud and then delete them from your Mac. When macOS deletes a file, it leaves an alias that will download the file from iCloud as required.
Effectively, you don’t have to worry about how much physical storage your Mac has – you can just treat it as an infinitely large drive and macOS takes care of shifting things back and forth from the cloud as required.
That’s great in theory, but there seem to be a few flaws in practice …

Instagram’s iOS app now lets you save drafts of your half-finished photo edits
If you’re halfway through a masterpiece photo edit on Instagram and you get interrupted, you can now save your edits as a draft and complete them later. Instagram has been testing the feature for some time with a limited number of users, but has now rolled out the feature to everyone.

Tumblr launches support for Apple’s Live Photos on the web, releases tool to let other services do the same
Apple’s Live Photos were introduced with the iPhone 6s last year and have slowly made their way to third-party apps and services. One area that has lagged in support for Live Photos, however, is the web. This is primarily due to the fact that Apple doesn’t offer a first-hand solution for adding Live Photos to websites. Tumblr, however, has taken a roundabout approach to supporting the feature and is rolling it out today.

$649 iPhone 7 estimated to cost Apple ~$220, here’s the component breakdown
According to a new report by IHS, Apple’s component costs for the iPhone 7 have risen compared to the previous iPhone. This means you are technically getting more bang for your buck when you buy an iPhone. But don’t fear, Apple is still making a tidy margin higher than the industry average.
