Apple today has inked a new deal with one of the most popular music labels, Cash Money Records. The co-foudner of the label, Birdman, posted on Instagram confirming the deal, sharing a picture of himself with Apple Music executive Larry Jackson. “It’s official…Cash Money makes a power move with Apple Music,” Birdman’s Instagram post said.

With iOS 10, Apple is officially bringing support for lyrics to the Music application. Currently, it’s unclear how Apple is aggregating those lyrics, whether it be from other lyric websites or from record labels and artists directly. Nevertheless, a new job listing discovered by MBW suggests that Apple is looking to expand its team of “lyrics curators” with a new manager.

Black Hat, famously known for its information security conferences, has just released the ‘Behind the Scenes of iOS Security’ video from this year’s USA event. The talk, led by Ivan Krstic, dives into some of the security methods that currently exist in iOS and what Apple does to keep users secure. Apple’s iPhone 7 is set to launch next month, but today we’re taking an early look at what could be the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus design and comparing it to the current generation models. It’s said that this year’s iPhone won’t bring a fresh new design which if true is kind of lame-sauce, and if these models are anything like the real deal, I think it’s time to be a bit disappointed in Apple’s design choices…

Tekserve, once the go-to third-party repair shop for Apple products in New York City, announced last month that it would be closing shop on August 15 after being in business since 1987. Now that Tekserve has officially closed shop, Apple fans will have the opportunity to purchase some museum-worthy vintage Apple and NeXT gear through auction.

Consumers downloading apps from the App Store have to rely on Apple’s approval process for vetting insecure applications, and even then there isn’t a guarantee that Apple hasn’t missed something crucial. Just last year hundreds of apps in the App Store had been found to be using private APIs to collect private user data, a violation of the App Review Guidelines. The recently launched public beta test of Will Strafach’s Verify.ly service looks to provide a “warning label for apps” to everyday consumers.

Reuters reports that Apple is to build its first research and development center in China, citing a statement by the official Chinese state broadcaster.

Tim Cook reportedly made the commitment to Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli, stating that the center will be built by the end of the year.

The pledge comes after the head of China’s industry and technology regulator in May told Cook he hoped Apple could deepen its cooperation with the country in research and development and stressed information security.

Apple likely has two reasons for investing in R&D within China …
