Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway boosts AAPL stake to almost $1.5B, likely made $194M profit to date

One-time AAPL skeptic Warren Buffett appears to now be strongly invested in the company’s future. Just three months after it was discovered that his conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway had purchased more than a billion dollars worth of AAPL stock, a new regulatory filing reveals that the Berkshire has boosted its stake by 55% to a holding worth $1.46B, reports Reuters.

Berkshire owned 15.23 million Apple shares worth $1.46 billion as of June 30, up from 9.81 million shares as of March 31, according to a regulatory filing from Buffett’s Omaha, Nebraska-based conglomerate …

An insider talks Apple Watch development: engineering versus design; innovation; secrecy

Bob Messerschmidt is in a good position to talk about the development of the Apple Watch. It was his heart-rate sensor startup that Apple bought for use in the Watch, and the company then hired him from 2010 to 2013 to work on the project. An interview with Messerschmidt by FastCo provides a fascinating glimpse into the world of developing a new Apple product.

Of particular interest is the tension between the engineering and design teams, engineers putting forward the best approach from a technical perspective, designers pushing back where that approach conflicts with their knowledge of trends, fashion and user behaviour …

The World Trade Center Apple Store opens tomorrow at noon in Santiago Calatrava‘s Oculus terminal.  But some are getting a sneak peak at the store this evening according to a couple of our tipsters who work in the area.

While we’re all looking forward to seeing new iPhones next month, it’s also possible we’ll get our first look at the second generation Apple Watch during the same Apple event. I still love my Apple Watch, but it’s just plain old in fast-paced technology terms.

Apple introduced the current Apple Watch almost two years ago at its September 2014 event where we also saw the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Remember all the hype? Then Apple gave the Apple Watch stage time once again at its March 2015 event before releasing it the following month. This year Apple could either update the Apple Watch soon or go into the holiday quarter with the same Apple Watch as last year.

I’ve considered the window closed for buying the current Apple Watch for a while now so I’m hoping we see an upgraded Apple Watch 2 in a few weeks. After more than a year with the first generation Apple Watch, there are plenty of improvements I’d love to see as well.
