iOS 10 proactively remembers where you left your vehicle with Parked Car feature in Maps
Third party solutions like Automatic and various apps on the App Store can already do this, but iOS 10 builds finding where you parked your car right into the operating system. The new Parked Car feature proactively remembers where you left your vehicle and offers new features in Maps for adding more context.
With Safari 10 on macOS Sierra, Adobe Flash will be disabled by default when browsing the web
Alongside various new features (Siri, Auto Unlock, Apple Pay) coming in macOS Sierra, Apple’s next major desktop operating system, it also ships with the brand new version of Safari, Safari 10. Safari 10 introduces a major change in the way the browser handles plugins. In short, proprietary plugins like Adobe Flash will be disabled by default when browsing the web.
This means that websites will serve modern HTML5 representations of content as often as possible as they will not be able to detect an installation of Flash at all. Safari is smart however — it will allow you to enable Flash temporarily on demand …

Netflix for iPad now works with iOS 9’s Picture-In-Picture multitasking feature
Apple introduced a built-in Picture-In-Picture feature for iPads on iOS 9 a year ago and released it last fall. We’re getting deep into iOS 10 territory at this point, but some apps are still updating to support the latest features from the current version of iOS. Netflix delivered on that today with official support for PIP on iOS 9.3.2 or later. (The version number requirement may suggest that earlier versions didn’t support what Netflix would need.)

CarPlay in iOS 10: Improved Apple Music, removing & rearranging apps, more
CarPlay is something I’ve been following (and using) since it launched it late 2014. It was better than the status quo in many ways when it launched but had obvious room for improvements. iOS 9.3 made significant improvements to CarPlay by including the full Apple Music experience and upgraded Maps features. When iOS 10 debuts later this fall, CarPlay will get even better thanks to a variety of small improvements that add up to simpler experience.

iOS 10 allows live streaming from apps for gameplay & screencast videos w/ ReplayKit
Apple introduced ReplayKit with iOS 9, allowing apps to offer users the ability to record and share gameplay or screencast videos directly from within the app. With iOS 10, Apple is introducing ReplayKit Streaming, allowing users to also live stream video of what’s on their iPhone screen for the first time.

iOS 10 adds three-pane split-view appearance for Mail and Notes on iPad Pro 12.9 inch
iOS 10 has a lot of small features dotted around, beyond the headline changes announced on stage yesterday. One of these changes is exclusive to the big 12.9 inch iPad Pro and will no doubt please its user base: Apple has added three-pane views to Notes and Mail to better take advantage of the larger canvas.
This triple split view feature is only available on the 12.9 inch iPad Pro and is not offered on the 9.7 inch iPad Pro, because it requires a larger display to be useful …

Opinion: Despite lack of hardware and surprises, yesterday’s keynote didn’t disappoint
Reactions to yesterday’s keynote have, as usual, been mixed – but there has been a distinctly disappointed note to much of it. In particular, those not following the rumors as closely as 9to5Mac readers have expressed frustration at the lack of hardware announcements. One Reddit thread along these lines was at 1550 comments and counting at the time of writing.

This is really really disappointing. Unbelievable that the rMBP hasn’t been updated in over a year and the prices have stayed the same.
Others weren’t happy about what they saw as the limited focus on Macs in general, one commenting that ‘they spent longer on iMessage than they did on macOS.’ But despite the lack of hardware, and of major surprises in general, my view is that yesterday’s announcements didn’t disappoint …

Yesterday Apple released developer betas of iOS 10 and macOS 10.12 Sierra with loads of new features, but you may want to hold off until the official release in the fall or at least the public beta release in July as the first few builds also include loads of bugs. Decreases in speed, much worse battery life, and frequent app crashing is typical on early betas. In the meantime, you can still copy the iOS 10 and macOS 10.12 Sierra look by using the new ocean wave and mountain scene wallpapers.
