Online Apple Store now has category for accessibility accessories, confirming earlier rumors
As rumored late last year, Apple has now added a dedicated accessibility accessories category to its online store. As Amvsement noted, Apple currently offers a total of 15 products, addressing the three areas of vision, physical & motor skills, and learning & literacy.
For those who are blind or partially sighted, Apple offers two different braille displays which serve as both screen-readers and control keyboards. For those with motor skills impairment, products include an over-sized trackball and a wide variety of switches to trigger functions on a Mac or iOS device. LAPD successfully hacked a locked iPhone 5s during time FBI said it couldn’t access 5c
LAPD detectives have successfully hacked into a locked iPhone 5s despite the phone having a Secure Enclave, according to an LA Times report.
Los Angeles police investigators obtained a method to open the locked iPhone belonging to the slain wife of “The Shield” actor Michael Jace, according to court papers reviewed by The Times.
LAPD detectives found an alternative way to bypass the security features on the white iPhone 5S belonging to April Jace, whom the actor is accused of killing at their South L.A. home in 2014, according to a search warrant filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
More intriguingly still, this appears to have occurred during the time that the FBI was still demanding that Apple help it unlock the less secure iPhone 5c in the San Bernardino shooting case …

Apple will appeal loss of iPhone trademark rights at China’s highest court
In a statement, Apple has said that it will appeal a Chinese trademark ruling which saw the company lose exclusive rights to the iPhone name, allowing other Chinese companies to use the name for leather goods products. Obviously, the iPhone is Apple’s cash cow so the initial ruling was a big blow allowing legal dilution of its most-valuable brand.
Apple will take the appeal to the Supreme People’s court, the highest court in the Chinese law system …

Siri creators developing powerful new personal assistant ‘Viv,’ will reveal it next week
The original minds behind the iOS virtual assistant Siri have a new project in the works. A new report from The Washington Post details that Siri’s creators are working on an artificial intelligence technology called “Viv” that does more than Siri or any other virtual assistant currently available.
Apple will require iOS App Store apps to support IPv6-only networks from June 1
Apple has announced on its developer blog that it will require all apps submitted to the iOS App Store to support IPv6-only networks from June 1 2016. Apple originally introduced the transition a year ago at WWDC 2015, implying it would soon become a requirement.

Apple Music’s fall iOS 10 overhaul detailed: black & white UI, ‘huge artwork’, lyrics integration
Nearly a year after Apple Music’s debut, Apple is preparing to announce its streaming music service’s first end-to-end overhaul, according to multiple sources familiar with the changes. The changes are expected to be shown off at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in mid-June, and Apple currently plans to launch the updated service across its product lines that currently support Apple Music this fall as part of new operating system versions.
The updated version of Apple Music has been in the Apple product development pipeline since the end of last year, and work in earnest on the updated service began at the end of February, according to sources.
