Live blog: Apple’s fiscal year Q2 2018 earnings call

Just a few minutes ago, Apple announced its second quarter earning results for 2018. The numbers included $61.1 billion in revenue on sales of 52.2 million iPhones, 9.1 million iPads, and 4.07 million Macs. As is tradition, the earnings release is being followed by a conference call with Apple CEO Tim Cook and CFO Luca Maestri.
Apple announces new $100 billion share buy-back program, increases dividend by 16%

As part of its earnings report, Apple has announced an extension of its capital return program. Apple will buy $100 billion worth of its own stock. It will also increase the dividend by 16%.
With the new tax legislation in place, Apple has said that it aims to hold zero net cash. It currently holds about $270 billion in cash. It will spend its excess cash through returns to investors in the form of dividends and share repurchase, as well as investment into expansion and product development.
Apple announces Q2 2018 revenue of $61.1b: 52.2m iPhones, 9.1m iPads, 4.07m Macs

Happy Apple Earnings Day! Apple has just announced its Q2 2018 results with $61.1 billion in revenue and $13.8 billion in profit earned from selling 52.2 million iPhones, 9.1 million iPads, and 4.07 million Macs. Apple had offered revenue guidance between $60 billion and $62 billion.
That compares to $52.9b in revenue, $11.03 billion profit, 50.7 million iPhones, 8.92 million iPads, and 4.19 million Macs sold the same quarter a year ago; and $88.3 billion in revenue, $20.1 billion in profit, 77.3 million iPhones, 13.2 million iPads, and 5.1 million Macs sold during the previous quarter.

macOS 10.13.5 beta 3 now available for developers

Apple has released the third developer beta version of macOS 10.13.5 for testing. The beta version includes Messages in iCloud which works with iOS 11.4 beta.
watchOS 4.3.1 beta 3 for Apple Watch now available

watchOS 4.3.1 beta 3 for Apple Watch is now available for developer testing. While the new update is light on new features, it does include a new warning when launching older apps.
Apple releases third tvOS 11.4 beta for developers

Apple has released the third tvOS 11.4 developer beta for testing on Apple TV 4 and Apple TV 4K. tvOS 11.4 turns Apple TV into an AirPlay 2 speaker which supports multi-room AirPlay from iOS.
iOS 11.4 beta 3 for iPhone and iPad now available

Two weeks after the second developer beta, Apple has released iOS 11.4 beta 3 for testing. iOS 11.4 includes unreleased features like AirPlay 2 and Messages on iCloud. There’s also a new wallpaper for iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. We’ll dig in to the new version and detail changes below.
