Remodeling set to begin in May at Apple’s Palo Alto store, less than 6 years after opening

Apple has announced that their retail location in Palo Alto, CA will be closing for an undetermined amount of time beginning in May. The building will be remodeled as part of Apple’s strategy to bring all of its 500+ retail locations into the Today At Apple era. While store employees have not yet been given a specific date of closure, the renovations are expected to begin in “mid May.” We’ll update this post as more information becomes available.
GE now shipping first Siri-controlled window air conditioner, works with HomeKit and Amazon Alexa

After being announced some time ago, GE’s HomeKit compatible window air conditioner is now available for purchase. The 8,000 BTU, Energy Star rated unit also works with Alexa, Google Home products, and IFTTT in addition to Apple’s HomeKit.

Apple’s Shazam acquisition sparks ‘in-depth’ EU antitrust investigation through September 4

Apple confirmed plans to buy music tagging service Shazam back in December, but Apple’s acquisition of the London-based firm still hasn’t received EU antitrust regulatory approval yet. Apple moved to close the deal back in March when the European Commission took control of the approval process, and a decision to OK the deal or launch an in-depth investigation was promised today.
First reported by Reuters, the European Commission has formally moved to launch an ‘in-depth’ four month investigation into the proposed deal before allowing or blocking Apple’s takeover of Shazam. The EC says the risk of Apple buying Shazam is limiting choice of music streaming services…
