Large-scale polls show low level of trust in Facebook privacy as firm apologizes with full-page ads

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has run full-page newspaper ads apologizing for the privacy breach that allowed a researcher to collect user data that was later used by Cambridge Analytica to help elect Trump. Fallout so far has included investigations in the US and UK, lawsuits and a petition.

Vulnerability in iOS camera QR code reader could direct users to malicious websites

A vulnerability in the QR code reader built into the iOS camera app could allow users to be directed to a malicious website without their knowledge.

As of iOS 11, you can simply point your iPhone at a QR code using the standard camera app, and it will read and act on the code. In the case of an embedded website URL, iOS shows you the link address and asks you to tap to confirm you want to visit it. But you may not be visiting the link displayed …

Apple reportedly targeting March 2019 for original content TV show launch

A nice overview on the state of Apple’s Worldwide Video division was published by the New York Times, including a recap of what we know and a few new tidbits. With 12 projects currently in the works, the paper says Apple is targeting a launch somewhere around the summer of next year, as soon as March 2019.

The original content group comprises about 40 staff spanning adult dramas, children’s TV, Latin America and European content.
