What we expect from Apple’s ‘field trip’ education event next week

Apple made a surprise announcement on Friday when it unveiled plans to host a special education event at a high school in Chicago later this month. Apple says it will reveal “creative new ideas for teachers and students” at Lane Tech College Prep High School on March 27, and we already have a good idea of what to expect.
Latest Canary app update adds support for masking for Flex users

In the latest version of the Canary app, version 2.14.0, the company will be rolling out a new masking feature that allows users to block certain areas of the Canary’s field of view. This allows for the Canary to ignore motion or activity in certain areas and could be crucial for cameras placed in areas with pets, for example.

Gold color iPhone X rumored to have started production

Before the iPhone X was officially revealed, there were a lot of rumors and part leaks about a ‘blush gold’ color model (like the header picture in this article). KGI reported that the gold iPhone X was facing production issues and may not be ready for the initial launch. Apple debuted the iPhone X in just Space Gray and Silver. At least according to one rumor, the gold iPhone X may indeed be launching soon.

Comment: The three reasons I think Apple has created its microLED manufacturing facility

OLED superseded LCD because it’s brighter, has better color saturation, and is more power-efficient. microLED is expected to replace OLED within the next few years for the same reasons – it improves on all three of those factors.
I don’t believe that Apple’s ‘secret manufacturing facility‘ for microLED screens indicates any desire or plan on Apple’s part to move into large-scale component manufacturing, but I do think it’s a very smart move.
