TikTok is accused of disguising ads to kids, ripping them off with in-app currency

TikTok is accused of presenting kids with “hidden” forms of advertising as one of a number of formal complaints from the BEUC, an umbrella body for consumer watchdogs across the European Union.

BEUC also accuses the video sharing app of unclear privacy terms, failing to protect kids from inappropriate content, and ripping them off with in-app currency…

A sneak peek at VLC 4 user interface doesn’t look good…

We learned recently that VLC was getting a significant update, with an all-new and more modern VLC 4 user interface. But a sneak peek at the Linux version unfortunately doesn’t look good.

It does indeed look more modern (seen next to the current UI on the left), but it appears to be trying an iOS-like approach to simplicity…

A year on, all-in-one Microsoft Office iPad app finally available

If you’ve wanted to use a Microsoft Office iPad app, you’ve been able to run the individual Word, Powerpoint, and Excel apps for many years. But while the iPhone got an all-in-one Office app in February of last year, the iPad didn’t. A year later, Microsoft has finally fixed that.

Apple fixes bug that let users begin macOS Big Sur installation without enough space available

It was reported last week that macOS Big Sur has a serious issue that can result in data loss when users try to upgrade a Mac to the latest version of the operating system without enough space available. Apple has finally fixed the issue with a new build of macOS Big Sur 11.2.1, which properly checks if the disk has the required space before starting the upgrade process.
