Every year, the Consumer Electronics Show kicks off with an event called CES Unveiled, a preview of some of the newest products that will be on display at the show. A brief walk around the booths at this year’s Unveiled revealed that accessory makers are doubling down on smart home products in 2018 – and that means new HomeKit accessories.
Apple supplier Dialog reports record revenue and sees share price climb despite uncertain future
Dialog Semiconductor, which makes most of its revenue from supplying power-management chips to Apple, has reported record quarterly revenue of $463M in Q4 last year. This was up 27% year-on-year.

Ahead of the opening of Apple’s first ever retail location in South Korea, colorful new banners have been installed to cover the store’s glass entryway from prying eyes. When translated from Korean, the banners read “Nice to meet you.”

Belkin Wemo Bridge now available for $40, connects Wemo smart home accessories to HomeKit
At CES, Belkin announced that the Wemo Bridge is now available to order, priced at $39.99. The bridge adds HomeKit support to the wide array of existing Wemo smart home accessories which includes smart plugs, dimmers, motion sensor and a light switch.
HomeKit support allows these accessories to be controlled through the native Apple Home app on iOS devices and Apple Watch. It also unlocks voice control with Siri.
Significant AAPL investors put pressure on Apple to add better parental control features to iPhones and iPads
Significant Apple investors have published a new open letter, ‘Think Differently About Kids’, asking Apple to dramatically improve the parental control features in iPhone and iPads, citing research into the negative psychological effects of kids over-using technology.
The letter asks Apple to add new iOS features which allow parents to limit screen-on time, hours of use, monitoring and other features. It also wants Apple to assign a high-profile executive to the case and release annual progress reports.
