Despite having made the journey from a smartwatch skeptic to an Apple Watch convert, I was – until very recently – still using my original model, aka the Series 0. It had become something I wear every day, and now wouldn’t want to be without, and Apple hadn’t shown me any reason to upgrade to Series 3.

When the Series 2 was launched, I concluded that despite the improvements it offered in some areas, there would be no benefit to me given the four things for which I use it.

The Series 3 is, of course, a much bigger upgrade, but I was fairly sure that wasn’t going to persuade me either …

A supply chain report out of Taiwan claims that Apple is facing significant yield problems with the 3D sensors used in the TrueDepth camera module of the iPhone X. One source says that production volumes for the flagship phone are so low that they are being measured in tens of thousands of units per day …

Instagram has announced two changes to improve the comment experience for users on the social network. Public accounts are now able to select which groups of users are able to comment on their posts, and all users now have the ability to block other users from leaving comments. Instagram also announced new milestones for its user base this week.

The Apple TV is listed again on Amazon and whilst it isn’t in stock just yet, it does suggest that the Amazon Prime app for Apple TV is imminent.

Amazon pulled the Apple TV from its site as it won’t sell media players that don’t support Prime. Tim Cook announced back in June that Amazon would release an Amazon Prime Video app for Apple TV later this year …

We noted earlier a Chinese regulatory filing that appears to confirm an earlier report that the iPhone X will come equipped with 3GB RAM. That same filing also contains another interesting number: the apparent battery capacity.

Serial leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer tweeted the image showing a battery capacity of 2716mAh – even higher than the 2691mAh battery found in the iPhone 8 Plus, with its far less power-efficient LCD screen …

A macOS vulnerability discovered by security researcher Patrick Wardle allows any app – signed or unsigned – to extract plain text passwords from Keychain. Wardle demonstrated the exploit with a proof of concept app, seen in the video below.

The vulnerability is a huge one, because Keychain data is secured by 256-bit AES encryption, which should make it virtually uncrackable – and because the bug affects all versions of macOS, including High Sierra …
