Reported iPhone 8 delays leading analysts to doubt Apple’s guidance, downgrading sales expectations

We’ve heard many reports suggesting that Apple is experiencing significant difficulties with development and production of the iPhone 8/Edition/X. A WSJ report yesterday suggested that Foxconn is trying to recruit additional staff to make up time, but a separate TechCrunch one cited ‘trusted sources’ in stating that shipping will be significantly delayed.

Comment: How a Twitter hack taught me to take online security seriously

Ask anybody about the importance of online security and data management, and you’ll probably hear similar advice. Back up your files regularly. Don’t use the same weak password everywhere. Enable two-factor authentication. A digital life necessitates a layer of precautions that can be repetitive and even exhausting to maintain. It’s easy to brush off the warnings we’ve all heard hundreds of times because “that’ll never happen to me.” Until it does.

When I went to sleep last Monday night, I had no idea that I’d open my eyes to dozens of confusing notifications and my Twitter account taken over by a security hacker group. It caught me completely off guard, but it didn’t have to be that way. WSJ: iPhone 8 production month behind, Foxconn paying bonuses to increase staff

The Wall Street Journal has published a new report on iPhone 8 production ahead of Apple’s major unveiling next week. While the lead suggests Apple is having trouble making the redesigned iPhone altogether — which is hitting stock — the story as a whole largely echoes what regular readers have been following this summer. The WSJ describes iPhone 8 production as about a month behind schedule, but claims iPhone maker Foxconn is offering bonuses to employees who can bring in new hires.
