Apple has started a new iPhone advertising campaign centered around potential switchers who currently use Android or other platforms. Apple highlights superior performance, camera quality, privacy, and other factors in appealing to potential new iPhone customers.

Square hosting free tech talk event during WWDC week in San Jose
Square is hosting a free event featuring tech talks and a Q&A session in San Jose during WWDC week next month. Square engineers will be available to discuss using the payment processor’s technology on iOS and how to leverage Apple Pay, according to the announcement.

Emerson has officially announced HomeKit support for its Sensi Wi-Fi Thermostat lineup, which includes a budget-friendly option and a fancier version with a color shifting touch screen. Apple’s HomeKit feature allows you to control heating and cooling settings with Siri, automation, and Apple’s Home app.
Leaked 10.5-inch iPad Pro case compared to current 9.7-inch iPad Pro [Gallery]
Earlier today we got a brief glimpse at some of the first iPad cases leaking for the new 10.5-inch (as well as that refreshed 12.9-inch model also expected soon). Now we get our best look yet at the new model with the images above and below showing a case for the 10.5-inch iPad Pro next to the current 9.7-inch iPad Pro model. The images come from sources in China and were shared with 9to5Mac by @ShaiMizrachi, a tipster that has shared accurate information for unreleased products on several occasions in the past.
Apple Pay accused of violating patents after inventor held discussions with Visa, pitched Apple
Apple has been accused of violating the patents of a Boston-based company through its launch of Apple Pay. Universal Secure Registry CEO Kenneth Weiss says he ‘was the first in the space, and the secure payment technology that he developed goes right to the core of Apple Pay.’
In an interview, Weiss says that the patents cover all three key elements of Apple Pay.
Kenneth P. Weiss, received 13 patents for authentication systems that use a smartphone, biometric identification such as a fingerprint and the generation of secure one-time tokens to conduct financial transactions.
While it’s not unusual for more than one company to be simultaneously working on the same technology, Weiss says that in this case both Visa and Apple were aware of his technology four years prior to the launch of Apple Pay …

Among the images that Apple proudly featured in officially launching its Today at Apple initiative was one from an event I attended myself: an acoustic concert at London’s Regent Street store.
The official photo of the event, below, shows singer Dua Lipa performing one of the tracks from her upcoming new album, while smiling customers enjoy the show.
That was an accurate reflection of the event. The singer gave an excellent performance to an appreciative audience. But it didn’t provide the complete picture. The top photo, taken with my iPhone from my position close to the stage area, shows another aspect of the event: massive crowding with basically zero attempt at controlling those crowds …
