Laurene Powell Jobs to grant rare interview on her approach to philanthropy

Steve Jobs’ widow Laurene Powell Jobs doesn’t speak publicly very often, but will be appearing at the Code conference next month to talk about her approach to philanthropy. Her appearance will take the form of an unscripted conversation on stage.

You have billions of dollars and you want to make the world a better place. Where to start? That’s the question facing Laurene Powell Jobs, who has an estimated net worth of $20 billion.

Interestingly, most of that net worth doesn’t take the form of AAPL shares …

Designer of Microsoft’s infamous ‘Clippy’ tool talks designing the character on a Mac & more

One of the most iconic pieces of software design ever is the Clippy (or Clippit) assistant that was baked into Microsoft Office up until 2007. Users had and still have somewhat of a love-hate relationship with Clippy. Despite the assistant no longer being included in Microsoft Office, Clippy has lived on with a variety of different fan-made renditions, fiction stories, and more.

Now, the original illustrator of Clippy, Kevan Atteberry, has sat down with Motherboard for a full interview

Building a GTX 1080 Ti-powered Hackintosh: hardware and performance results [Video]

In a previous article, posted shortly after Nvidia announced its new Pascal Mac drivers, I briefly discussed my plans to build a new Hackintosh. I’ve been planning and working on the machine for over a week, and I’m finally at the point where I can share the results of my journey.

Going about it this way allowed me to learn more about the process, and helped me to see that the entire premise, while tedious at times, is actually fairly straightforward. In this initial post, I’ll talk about some of my reasoning behind my hardware choices, and share some initial experiences and benchmark results. more…

Review: Olixar X-Trio Full Cover gives your iPhone 7 the red look for cheap

The new Product (RED) iPhone 7 is cool, and supporting charity by buying Product (RED) products, even better. But buying a new iPhone 7 mid-year ahead of what’s expected to be the biggest update in a while with iPhone 8 this fall; not such a great idea. So as an alternative to red iPhone mania, Olixar sent over its X-Trio Full Cover case that does a pretty good job of giving your iPhone a similar look on the cheap (white front not included). I’ve been using it for several weeks and I really like it.
