Will you wait until early 2019 for the new Mac Pro and Apple display? [Poll]

The rumors have started flowing following Apple’s rare pre-announcement of an all-new modular Mac Pro it has in the works. The latest today claims to offer some intel on how long the project has been in development at Apple, giving some insight into a likely late 2018/early 2019 launch and shipping timeframe for the new computer that we still don’t know a whole lot about.

Was Apple’s announcement enough to keep you satisfied and give you confidence that it’s worth holding out for the new machine? Or will you be switching to a new machine for your pro needs? Perhaps those new iMacs Apple plans to ship later this year?

Why Nvidia’s upcoming Pascal drivers matter: The Hackintosh

I’m currently in the process of building a new Hackintosh rig for 2017, so imagine how surprised and happy I was to hear that Nvidia is working on beta drivers for its GPUs with the latest Pascal architecture. Up until today, I had just settled on being relegated to a Radeon RX 480, or a Maxwell-era Nvidia card.

Not having Pascal drivers for the Mac certainly didn’t diminish the Hackintosh community, but it was significantly limiting in both options and creativity.

With today’s announcement, the Hackintosh just got exponentially more appealing. Nvidia’s announcement is positive for a variety of reasons: there’s the prospect of using an eGPU setup with a MacBook Pro, along with future prospects of Nvidia cards powering future Mac Pro hardware.

But on the immediate horizon, the announcement is most promising for Hackintosh builders. With this in mind, I wanted to share the build that I’m currently working on in this first part of a multi part series. more…

Rumor: Modular Mac Pro may not ship until early 2019, new iPad Pro and Mac integration planned

When Apple revealed on Tuesday that the current Mac Pro will not see a major update and instead an all-new modular Mac Pro is being developed, the company stopped short of saying just when that decision was made and how long ago the new project started.

Apple said the modular Mac Pro won’t be available in 2017, but didn’t explicitly promise the new machine would be ready next year. OSNews managing editor Thom Holwerda believes the project actually started “only a few weeks ago” and won’t be complete as soon as we may expect.

Review Roundup: Apple’s Clips app offers promising & fun editing features, but confusing & difficult UI

Apple’s new Clips social video editing app officially launched today for iPhone and iPad following an unveiling last month. While we’ve yet to spend significant time with the app ourselves, the reviews so far seem to be mixed with most reviewers noting similarities to Snapchat and some early shortcomings. The reviewers seem to agree the app provides fun and promising editing features, but most also noticed the user interface proved to be a little too difficult or confusing.

Head below for a full roundup of the reviews and some hands-on video:
