Comment: Apple Watch Series 3 could solve these problems with a cellular option

The challenges and benefits of a cellular Apple Watch is something I’ve considered throughout different pieces before, but I haven’t always been sure one actually needs to exist yet. I’ve continued thinking about this possibility, however, and now a cellular option is at the top of my wish list for the Apple Watch Series 3. A cellular option could solve specific problems that the faster, GPS-equipped Apple Watch Series 2 hasn’t resolved.

New 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 reported to be minor upgrade over current model, feature A10X chip

With rumors swirling about three different iPads in the wings, but with no event confirmed, it’s still unclear what Appel has in the cards for the spring product releases. There have been rumors about Apple pushing forward production of the edge-to-edge 10.5-inch iPad but an absence of online leaks. An update to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is also expected but the timeline is unclear.

Today, Macotakara is posing the idea that a new 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2, with the first version released almost a year ago, could be the first new Apple product of the year. It is reportedly a minor, iterative, update over the current iPad Pro with no external design changes.

WhatsApp & Telegram vulnerabilities allowed attackers to gain full control of accounts

A recently disclosed vulnerability by Check Point proved that both WhatsApp and Telegram were susceptible to particularly nefarious online attacks. While most attacks only garner tidbits of user data, these allowed attackers to gain full control of user accounts. Once in, attackers could download previously shared photos, contact information, and even more importantly gain access to a user’s friends accounts as well. Both companies acknowledged and released fixes to help patch the web client vulnerabilities.

Drone Diary: The DJI Mavic Pro flies autonomously using the Litchi app

Flying a drone manually is fun, but there are some manoeuvres that are virtually impossible to fly smoothly. Circling an object or person, for example. You’d need to constantly change the balance of forward/backward and left/right inputs to fly the circle in the first place, then simultaneously keep rotating the camera by just the right amount to keep it pointed at the centre of the circle. Anyone who can do that perfectly is either a drone genius or has way more than the usual number of hands.

The DJI Go app offers a range of intelligent flight modes – aka autonomous flying. But a third-party app, Litchi, goes even further: it allows you to program your flight path in Google Earth before you even leave home. As soon as you arrive on site, just load the pre-programmed flight and hit Start.

I decided to give it a go with my ultraportable done, the DJI Mavic Pro I reviewed last month

Nikkei: iPhone 8 OLED display curves to be ‘gentler’ than Samsung’s, offer no new functions

Latest iPhone 8 design concept

This fall Apple is expected to introduce three new iPhone models: iterative iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus updates, and a third model with a new design and screen size. According to a new report today, however, the so-called premium iPhone 8 model may only be visually more advanced rather than functionally.
