The latest drone footage of the Apple Park construction progress is in, and it makes an iPad event in the Steve Jobs Theater seem unlikely. We can only now be a matter of weeks away from the event, and there appears to be just too much mess – and too many potential hazards – for Apple to risk having 1,000 people wandering through the site.

A look inside the first Apple HomeKit homes in San Jose [Video]

After first announcing plans to offer new home upgrade packages for Apple’s HomeKit platform last year, homebuilder KB Home this week gave local news station Kron 4 a tour of the first builds with the accessories installed.
The homes featured in the video below are part of a KB Home development in San Jose, the first to offer the new HomeKit packages, known as Promenade at Communications Hill. The development is located at 307 Adeline Street and offers three floor plans for the new builds ranging from $970,000 to just over $1.1 million. more…

Samsung planning to win back iPhone & iPad chip orders, but faces uphill task
Samsung’s chip business has been increasingly left out in the cold by Apple as the company has favored Taiwanese rival TSMC for the A-series processors used it its iPhones and iPads. TSMC won all of Apple’s business for the A-series chips used in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7, and is reported to be the exclusive supplier for the 10nm A11 chip destined for the iPhone 8.
But it seems Samsung hasn’t yet given up hope of winning future business from Apple. Korea’s ET News reports that the company is accelerating plans for 7nm chips in the hopes that these might be used for next year’s iPhones …

PSA: Here’s how to secure your Twitter account against hijacks like today’s Nazi one
Thousands of Twitter users have this morning had their accounts hijacked and used to tweet a swastika and Nazi hashtags. The attack appears to be in support of Turkey’s President, urging support for a referendum which could allow President Erdoğan to remain in power until 2029.
The Verge reports that many verified and high-profile Twitter accounts were compromised, and that the hijack appears to have been carried out via a third-party app.
Accounts operated by Amnesty International, Duke University, Reuters Japan, and BBC North America were among those hijacked. Several users have noted that all hijacked tweets appear to have been linked to Twitter Counter, a Netherlands-based analytics application. Twitter Counter was previously targeted in a November 2016 attack that caused some high-profile accounts to spread spam.

iPhone market share grew in all but three countries, iPhone 7 remains top seller – Kantar
The latest Kantar data shows that iOS continued to grow its market share in all but three countries – with the iPhone 7 remaining the top-selling smartphone in the largest markets.
In the three months ending January 2017, iPhone market share in the U.S. was up 2.9 points year-on-year to hit 42%. This was a 1.5% increase on the two-year record reported for the previous quarter. All Android manufacturers combined totalled 56.4%, with other mobile operating systems all essentially now irrelevant.
In Europe, the iPhone retained its 22.7% share, with the iPhone 7 the best-selling phone in France, Germany and the UK. iOS did, however, see its market share fall in three markets …

According to a reports from Bloomberg and Reuters, the U.S. Justice Department plans to announce indictments on Wednesday against suspects involved in one the Yahoo data breaches. The indictments come after Yahoo suffered two massive hacks, one affecting 500 million users and another affecting 1 billion users.

Morgan Stanley analyst says iPhone 8 ‘super cycle’ will increase unit sales by 20% in fiscal 2018
Analysts have been relatively optimistic thus far when it comes to their expectations for Apple’s new flagship iPhone this year. Analysts at Citi increased their target price for AAPL from $140 to $160 based on iPhone 8 rumors, while Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities expects Apple’s new iPhone 8 to significantly impact the supply chain this year.
