Mazda confirms CarPlay incoming, incl. updates for all older vehicles w/ Mazda Connect systems
As one of the last big car companies not yet offering Apple’s CarPlay in its vehicles, Mazda this week confirmed that it will soon roll out the system, including updating older models through software and possibly hardware updates.
Cars.com reports that Mazda made the announcement during the launch of its new 2017 CX-5 model, and the publication also cites a spokesperson that confirmed all of the company’s vehicles using its Mazda Connect in-dash system will be eligible to update.

Apple today has shared a new advertisement on its YouTube channel. This one focuses on support for sticker packs in iMessage. While the ad is part of Apple’s iPhone 7 “Practically Magic” series, support for sticker in iMessage is an iOS 10 feature, thus meaning they’re supported on most recent devices, not just the iPhone 7.

Four new iPad models spotted in analytics, likely new rumored iPad Pro devices in testing
Analytics firm Fiksu is today reporting that they have seen four new iPad device identifiers appear in their logs. These as-yet-unannounced iPads were used to test a range of popular applications around Cupertino, running the latest iOS 10.3 beta and early builds of iOS 11 (via TechCrunch).
It is likely that these model identifiers represent the rumored new iPad Pro models, with reports indicating that successors to the 9.7 inch and 12.9 inch iPad Pro could launch soon …

ResearchKit clinical observation study published based on iPhone asthma app
A new clinical observation study published today by Nature Biotechnology (via The Verge) includes findings from an asthma test based on Apple’s ResearchKit framework. The asthma app relies on the iPhone app to voluntarily collect information, and the published study shows that such an approach can produce results.

Rumor: Apple hardware updates may come next week as iPad refresh still anticipated
We’d likely already see invites issued if Apple was planning to hold a major event in March, although that doesn’t rule out a spring event sometime next month yet. A new rumor today, however, suggests Apple could release new hardware as early as next week which would presumably happen without an event.
