Report: New Apple Watch Series 3 switching to glass-film touch display, shipping later this year

A new supplier report out of Asia includes two details that may tell us a little more about the third generation Apple Watch rumored for release later this year. Digitimes points to industry sources in claiming the Apple Watch Series 3 will use a different display technology with shipments starting in the second half of this year.

Report: 5.8 inch OLED iPhone 8 to include 3 GB RAM, available in 64 GB and 256 GB storage sizes

A report from TrendForce today reinforces most of the rumors being floated for the radically new iPhone 8 as well as a few new details. The report says the high-end iPhone will include a 5.8 inch display but will not be curved, due to yield issues. The physical home button will go away to make room for more screen, reaffirming the rumor that the iPhone 8 screen aspect ratio will exceed 2:1 with a body size similar to the 4.7 inch iPhone 7.

TrendForce also says that the phone will have 3 GB RAM, the same as the iPhone 7 Plus, and will be available in two storage sizes: 64 GB and 256 GB. It says the 3D sensing features will service face recognition and augmented reality applications.

KGI: OLED iPhone 8 to feature ‘revolutionary’ 3D-sensing front camera, detect depth for games and facial recognition

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8 is going to feature a major upgrade to the front camera, according to Apple analyst KGI Ming-Chi Kuo. A report published today says that the OLED iPhone will include a ‘revolutionary’ front camera and Infrared module that can sense the 3D space in front of it.

The analyst says the new components will be able to merge the depth information with the 2D images from the front camera for applications including face recognition, iris recognition, and 3D selfies …

In Irish tax appeal, Apple accuses European Commission of ‘fundamental errors,’ makes 14 objections

The European Courts of Justice has now published Apple’s appeal against a European Commission ruling that it must pay Ireland €13B ($13.7B) in underpaid tax. Apple accuses the EC of ‘fundamental errors’ in its interpretation of the facts and lays out no fewer than 14 different objections.

As ‘unlimited’ plans make a return, how much data do you use on average per month? [Poll]

Over the weekend, I broke down all of the details and differences between the new unlimited data plans being offered by the four major United States carriers. Of course, as I and many others were quick to point out, these plans aren’t technically unlimited as once you hit a certain amount of data, you may be throttled.
