Jaguar announces Apple Pay-based in-car fuel payment feature
iPad sales fell twice as fast as overall tablet market last year, but remains market leader
Trendforce data shows that iPad sales fell more than twice as fast as the tablet market as a whole last year, sales falling 14.1% against a decline of 6.6% in total tablet shipments. The only major winner last year, reports CNET, was Amazon, which doubled the number of tablets it sold – though Lenovo also saw a 12.3% growth to 10.9M sales.

D-Link Omna 180 HD camera now available at the Apple Store, first smart home camera with HomeKit video integration
D-Link has just announced that the first smart home security camera with HomeKit integration is now available to buy from Apple Online Store with delivery from next week. The Omna 180 Cam HD features a wide angle 1080p camera with night vision and two way audio, enclosed in a sleek cylindrical body.
It integrates with the latest HomeKit features in iOS 10 displaying a live video feed from the Home app. It can even send a rich notification to your iPhone when motion is detected, including video of the event.

Apple is again resisting a shareholder proposal to boost diversity at board and senior management level, reports The Verge.
A small group of Apple investors [led by Tony Maldonado are] leading an effort to mandate that Apple accelerate its work toward becoming a more diverse company. For the second year in a row, he’s submitted a shareholder proposal asking that Apple “adopt an accelerated recruitment policy … to increase the diversity of senior management and its board of directors.”
This year, Maldonado has backing from Zevin Asset Management, an investment firm specializing in socially responsible investing, but that isn’t cutting any ice with Apple …

A fun look back at the Apple Cafes that almost launched three years before the Apple Store [Gallery]
When Steve Jobs returned to Apple in 1997, it wasn’t long before he decided that transforming the retail experience was key to the company’s future growth. He almost immediately started cutting the Mac authorized retailer network, eliminating those stores he felt weren’t delivering the right kind of purchasing experience, and in 1999 began work on the Apple Store project. The first store opened two years later in 2001.

Pokémon Go adding 80 new Pokémon from Gold & Silver this week, new berries and more
Pokémon Go is adding over 80 new Pokémon this week, from the Generation II Gold and Silver games. All of them will be available to catch in the wild whilst playing Pokémon Go, not just from hatching eggs. You will be able to evolve some of the Kanto Pokémon you’ve already caught into their Johto successors.
The expanded Pokédex will be accompanied by a host of new features, coming in an app update later this week …

Apple fighting new ‘right to repair’ legislation after successfully lobbying against it in the past
Apple is fighting ‘right to repair’ legislation which would give consumers and third-party repair shops the legal right to purchase spare parts and access service manuals. The state of Nebraska is holding a hearing on the proposed legislation next month, and Motherboard reports that Apple will be formally opposing the bill.
According to the source, an Apple representative, staffer, or lobbyist will testify against the bill at a hearing in Lincoln on March 9. AT&T will also argue against the bill, the source said. The source told me that at least one of the companies plans to say that consumers who repair their own phones could cause lithium batteries to catch fire …
